SCA Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Scholarship

Forty scholarships worth $1,000 each will be awarded every June to selected, eligible high school graduates who have completed the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program.

In order to receive the scholarship students must within two years of graduation be entered into a contract of apprenticeship or complete one year of post-secondary training in a designated skilled trade.

Your company or association can get involved in the SYA Scholarship Program by making a contribution to the SYA Scholarship Program fund or by participating in the silent auction held at the SCA Summer meeting in Elkridge.

The five main benefits of your contribution to the SYA Scholarship Fund are:

·         Promotion of the construction industry as a first career choice to high school students

·         Opportunity for your company to name a scholarship with the minimum contribution of $10,000.

·         Promotion of the SYA program to high school students and guidance counselors

·         Reduction of the average age of entry level apprentices into the skilled trades

·         Opportunity to recruit outstanding graduates to your company

Companies can also receive more information about the scholarship fund by reading the enclosed sponsor’s brochure (click here to see it) or by contacting the SCA Human Resources Coordinator at 525-0171. Employers and industry associations interested in contributing to the SYA Scholarship Fund are encouraged to contact SATCC at 1-877-363-0536.
