    Saskatchewan Construction Association Welcomes Release of 2030 Growth Plan

    Saskatoon, SK - Following the release of the updated Saskatchewan Growth Plan this morning, the Saskatchewan Construction Association (SCA) is welcoming the new plan and supports many of its goals and targets.

    "Growth Plan 2030 is, overall, a positive vision as we look ahead to the next ten years in Saskatchewan," said Mark Cooper, President of the Saskatchewan Construction Association. "For the construction industry in our province, the new Growth Plan includes a clear plan with valuable targets that will help to continue to grow Saskatchewan's construction industry and the province's overall economy."

    Cooper applauded the following initiatives in Growth Plan 2030 as keys for continued success in Saskatchewan's construction industry and economy:

    • Investment of $30 billion in infrastructure;
    • Commitment to get municipal commercial building permit timelines down to maximum of 2 weeks;
    • Commitment to create an appeals process for the National Building Code interpretations;
    • A sector-based approach to supporting growth;
    • A commitment to maintaining tax and regulatory competitiveness, following Alberta's recent corporate tax cut; and
    • Opening international trade offices to increase Saskatchewan exports and attract investment opportunities in Saskatchewan.

    Cooper also noted that the SCA supports restoring the PST exemption to drilling and drilling services for exploration and mining activities, and will continue to advocate for the reinstatement of the PST exemption on construction materials.

    "The Saskatchewan Construction Association is pleased to support this updated Growth Plan," said Cooper. "We look forward to working with the Government of Saskatchewan to achieve many of these goals and targets as we move towards 2030."
